“What’s the answer? What’s the question?

Every advertiser and marketing executive and salesperson in the world is focused on one overriding question: What do people want? They spend their energy and time and money trying to figure you out so that they can position their product or service under your nose and trigger a buy impulse. If they’re any good, they will sell you not only a thing but an experience, a feeling, a promise that they say will satisfy you.

How many different toys and experiences have you chased in your life? Have you lived long enough to have discovered the truth in Isaiah’s words: “Why spend your money on food that does not give you strength? Why pay for food that does you no good? Listen to me, and you will eat what is good. You will enjoy the finest food. Come to me with your ears wide open. Listen, and you will find life. I will make an everlasting covenant with you. I will give you all the unfailing love I promised to David.” (Isaiah 55: 2,3)

You were designed to relate to your Designer, invented to enjoy your Inventor.

Unless you are being fed with his Word, your spirit will be restless and unfulfilled. Unless you are hearing from him and he from you, the things you chase will only leave you empty and depressed, perhaps because you couldn’t get them or perhaps because you could.

When your covenant – relationship with the Father, Savior, and Counselor is your most important treasure, the joy comes back.

God needs to remain #1 in your life over your spouse, children, career, everything. Jacob and I have been visiting different churches in the Tulsa area to see where we can serve best and it’s been hard not having the comfort of our home church, Carterville Christian. But, you know what’s cool? It hit me last Sunday…I have been so focused on other people spiritually “filling” me, that I’ve neglected investing in Jesus myself. I’ve relied on the comfort of getting my “share” every Sunday through leaders at Church, instead of daily seeking and nurturing my personal relationship with Him. It makes me sad, but I’m so thankful for that realization. Before that, my prayer was “I miss you, Lord. I miss having you as a friend.” Even though He was there the whole time saying, “Come to me.” He is THE only One who can provide true comfort, true peace and pure joy in life. I’m choosing to seek Him daily for advice, love, direction and friendship. Please join me?
